What is Continuul?

Continuul is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized databases. It containerizes your database and provides the tools to manage that database easily and inexpensively in a public or private cloud. Whether you use MySQL, Postgres, or others, we let you skip the old centralized, monolithic, approach to database management that today’s microservice users are trying to avoid.

Policy-Driven Automation

Some services are business critical; you’re at a dead halt without them. Others, not so much. Continuul's policy-based management lets you individually tailor the service level that works for your apps as policy, one by one, and we take care of the rest. With Policies and Policy Groups, enforcement automatically fans out to all managed services.

Self-Healing

Restarts containers that fail, replaces and reschedules containers when nodes die, kills containers that don't respond to your user-defined health check, and doesn't advertise them to clients until they are ready to serve.

Autonomic Scaling

Scale your database up and down with a simple command, with a UI, or automatically based on CPU or disk usage. Transparently scale without downtime, and replicate across multiple data centers for a truly federated database.

Situationally Aware

Every business and application is different; the user-extensible, event-driven, architecture applies business policy in a situationally aware manner, helping achieve specific business or performance objectives. With your choice of policy-based or function-based event handling, you're limited only by your imagination.

Storage Orchestration

Automatically mount the storage system of your choice, whether from local storage, a public cloud provider such as GCP or AWS, or a network storage system such as NFS, iSCSI, Gluster, Ceph, Cinder, or Flocker. Volumes automaticically move with your database instances.
